Acrylics Painting

Composition, color theory, and color mixing are discussed in this class in addition to materials and techniques. You’ll work on your own projects with guidance from the instructor. Art History: The Renaissance

The art of this period is discussed through a survey of visual arts, exploration of history, major artists’ techniques, terminology, and aesthetics. Emphasis will be on the evolution of the arts, identification of major artists, and an appreciation and understanding of a variety of art forms. Classes include visual examination and open discussion. Further your understanding of art appreciation, criticism, and history. This process will also assist artists in criticism and thoughtful practice in producing one’s own art.

Art of the Book

Students will create four book structures in this class: a Simple Pamphlet book, a Japanese Tab Bound book, a Hard Cover Accordion book, and a Hard Cover Book with Signatures sewn on tapes. Classes will focus on the techniques, structures, tools, materials and processes. All materials provided for $ 8. Class size limited to 10.

Basic Drawing

The “secrets” of drawing dramatic pictures will be taught by using effective lines, basic shapes, dynamic shading, valances of composition and skillful perspective. You’ll practice figure drawings, scenic views, architectural structures, and thoughtful still-life compositions. Bring a drawing pad. Class will be limited to 10. All drawing levels, or lack of experience, are welcome!

Beginner Wrap Bracelet

Wrap bracelets, where a row of beads is captured between two pieces of leather or cord, are very popular. This lovely wrap bracelet combines beads that layer together to form a herringbone pattern. We’ll have time in class to make a single wrap bracelet, but you will have the skills to make bracelets that wrap multiple times after taking this class. If you need glasses to read, you need glasses to bead. All other materials are provided. Kit fee of $15 payable to instructor at class.

Framed Mosaic Sun Catcher

Learn to make beautiful glass framed sun catchers using sea glass, shells, marbles or other eye-catching glass that sparkles in the sun. In the class, we’ll prepare the frames and glue items onto the glass. Everyone will be given instructions on how to do the optional final step at home – mixing and pouring the resin that will encase the items in a clear, durable finish. Please sign up at least one week prior to class to give the instructor enough time to gather materials for all registrants. Kit fee of $30 payable to the instructor at class.

Mosaic Garden Stone

Colorful glass mosaics on stones make fun pops of color in your garden, window sill, or porch. These aren’t stepping stones! They are little works of art for your garden. We’ll work with pre-cut stained and other glass, silicone adhesive, and grout to make 1-2 decorative stones. Bring 1-2 stones. The best ones are no smaller than about 4” and not so heavy you cannot manage to easily carry them. Smother surfaces are ideal. Wear old clothes and /or bring an apron – grouting is messy! Grout, adhesive, and glass provided for $10 kit fee payable to instructor at class.

Painted Rocks

There is a nationwide trend of painting rocks and leaving them around for people to find to brighten their day. Whether you want to contribute to this movement or just paint rocks for yourself, we’ll cover what kinds of rocks make ideal painting surfaces, the types of paints to use and what to avoid, and more. All materials provided, but you should bring some rocks. Ideal rocks have a mostly smooth surface and are around 3-6” in size. Bring 2-3 rocks so you can work on one while another is drying. Kit fee of $2 covers supplies and is payable to instructor at class.
