Composition, color theory, and color mixing are discussed in this class in addition to materials and techniques. You’ll work on your own projects with guidance from the instructor. Beginner and Intermediate painters are all welcome! Class size will be limited to 10. A supply list will be provided after registration is received.

Art History: The Renaissance

Calendar Apr 26, 2018 at 7 pm, runs for 6 weeks

The art of this period is discussed through a survey of visual arts, exploration of history, major artists’ techniques, terminology, and aesthetics. Emphasis will be on the evolution of the arts, identification of major artists, and an appreciation and understanding of a variety of art forms. Classes include visual examination and open discussion. Further your understanding of art appreciation, criticism, and history. This process will also assist artists in criticism and thoughtful practice in producing one’s own art.

Art of the Book

Calendar Apr 5, 2018 at 6:30 pm, runs for 2 weeks

Students will create four book structures in this class: a Simple Pamphlet book, a Japanese Tab Bound book, a Hard Cover Accordion book, and a Hard Cover Book with Signatures sewn on tapes. Classes will focus on the techniques, structures, tools, materials and processes. All materials provided for $ 8. Class size limited to 10.

Basic Drawing

Calendar Mar 6, 2018 at 4 pm, runs for 8 weeks

The “secrets” of drawing dramatic pictures will be taught by using effective lines, basic shapes, dynamic shading, valances of composition and skillful perspective. You’ll practice figure drawings, scenic views, architectural structures, and thoughtful still-life compositions. Bring a drawing pad. Class will be limited to 10. All drawing levels, or lack of experience, are welcome!

Beginner Wrap Bracelet



Calendar Mar 13, 2018 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

Wrap bracelets, where a row of beads is captured between two pieces of leather or cord, are very popular. This lovely wrap bracelet combines beads that layer together to form a herringbone pattern. We’ll have time in class to make a single wrap bracelet, but you will have the skills to make bracelets that wrap multiple times after taking this class. If you need glasses to read, you need glasses to bead. All other materials are provided. Kit fee of $15 payable to instructor at class.

Dancing with your Star

No prior experience is necessary … all levels are welcome in this delightful class! Class is focused on ballroom dance steps and includes waltz, fox trot, and East Coast swing. For those who have taken Dennis’ classes, you know you are going to have very enjoyable evenings – and it’s great exercise, too. Learn new steps, brush up on old favorites; and you’ll be ready for the next wedding. PLEASE NOTE FEE IS FOR ONE COUPLE.

Dowsing for Today

Dowsing (also called “divining”) skills are as important in the modern world as they were in 16th century Germany. Dowsing was conducted in South Dakota in the late 19th and 20th centuries to help farmers locate water wells on their property and is still used today. Glen Johnson has helped many local property owners in determining the best spot to drill for water.

Effective Communication Strategies

Communication is more than talking and listening. Communication is a way to express who we are and how we relate to each other. This workshop will explore: communication changes throughout the course of the disease, understanding and decoding verbal and behavioral messages, identifying ways to connect and communicate through the stages of dementia.
